Listening Post is accepting student applications for counselling placement positions.

This is a chance to gain counselling hours working with clients as part of your counselling qualification, when you are studying at Diploma Level 4 or equivalent.

We aim to provide a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you to complete your clinical placement as you undergo this step in your counselling journey.

Successful applicants at this stage will be invited to attend an interview and roleplay session at one of our centres, following which we will make a final decision about your placement. These selection days are held four times a year.

Job Specification

You must be undergoing a classroom based counselling course at Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (TC-L4) or higher.
You must commit to undergoing 40 hours of therapy whilst in the placement.
You must have 10 hours of personal therapy before applying for placement.
You must be able to supply three referees, who have agreed to give references and have a knowledge of your work and/ or character. One referee must be a person holding a responsible position with your present or latest employer. Another must be your current or most recent counselling Tutor, preferably different from the tutor who will sign your Fitness to Practice (FTP).
You must be able to attend an interview and roleplay session at one of our centres.
Student Counsellors are required to have an Enhanced DBS Check. We can arrange this at the start of the placement, though the fee for this (currently £70.80) will be passed on to the student. There is also an additional £50 administration fee that the student must cover at the start of the placement.

Benefits

Gain counselling hours for your qualification with a well respected Gloucestershire counselling charity, usually three client hours per week or more if agreed with your supervisor and team leader.
Individual supervision sessions will be arranged for you (there is a £37 per month cost for this supervision), 45 minutes per session, twice monthly.
We supply clients with an agreement form to confirm sessions can be taped if necessary and written records can be used for your training.
A full induction is provided.
Listening Post student counsellors gain access to our full CPD programme, generally four one-day seminars and three centre meetings per year, plus additional CPD over Zoom.
Full support for your counselling with an experienced team, with a team leader assigned for each centre and a clinical lead, as well as administrative and IT support.

Duration
All records are destroyed six years after application/ completion of a course/ termination of employment except for your name and job role.
