It is such an encouragement to all of us to read the anonymous feedback that our clients leave at the end of their time with us.
It’s tough at the moment as a small mental health charity – we’re facing increased demand, whilst the amount of funding and resources available are shrinking. When clients share their stories of hope with us, it keeps us going, reminding us all why we are here and why we do what we do. Here are just a few of the heart-warming stories we’ve received recently. We hope they encourage you, too, at whatever stage of the journey you may be.
“My counsellor was a fantastic. She really understood me and my issues, challenged me to think and push myself and is 100% the reason why I feel a lot better about myself, and my future. I now know that my past isn’t something that can control me, but it is something that must be truly felt and that my emotions both good and bad have value and are key to leading a happy healthy life.”
“My counsellor was insightful, empathic and always attentive to what ever I might bring. She made me feel comfortable, heard and understood. I made some significant changes during our nine months: finding my voice with my family and reigniting my love of writing. I went through some very trying times and dark feelings but she always made me feel held.”
“I believe I was meant to find my counsellor. By far the best counsellor I have seen. She went at my pace, helped when things were difficult and the discussion about possible ADHD has changed my life. I got an assessment and now medicated for it which has helped tremendously. She is the only counsellor I have been completely honest with. There was no judgement just support all the way through. Thank you so much.”

“I got so much out of my time with my Counsellor, she was amiable, very easy to talk to, knowledgeable and had a lot of tools in her arsenal to be able to help me. I came out of the experience with so much understanding and a lot of positivity, feeling so much more like the person I know I can be, and want to be.”
“Although my life was incredibly manic at times and I wasn’t able to keep up with appointments, I can genuinely say that my sessions really had me reevaluate certain situations I was facing and trying to overcome. Because of my mental health disabilities, I wouldn’t have gotten the correct help or I would have been waiting for years for a counsellor through the local Let’s Talk teams. Listening Post evaluated me correctly and had my mental health and stability are the core of the services they offered me. They were super flexible and even though I am on benefits they made it accessible in my time of need. I would absolutely recommend them and want to thank them so much for helping me through a really tough time.”
“When my husband died of cancer, 6 months after diagnosis, every aspect of my life fell apart. I had lost the love of my life and could barely function for the grief. A few months later my mother also died. I so appreciate the opportunity to access counselling from Listening Post. The initial admin and assessment was done with kindness and clarity. My counsellor was nothing short of amazing. She guided me and helped me through the worst time of my life. I felt safe with her very quickly and was able to express and process all my feelings and thoughts. Through the counselling I was given the encouragement to slowly move forward, I grew in understanding about grieving, to believe in myself, to have courage and to recognize my own resilience. [My counsellor] was also very helpful on practical matters to do with housing, benefits and looking towards working again. Listening Post and my experience with [my counsellor] in particular has been so helpful. I can even laugh again.”
