Helping Hands Scheme

Listening Post’s Helping Hands scheme gives you the opportunity to support someone in financial hardship to access the vital counselling support they need to make a fresh start this year.

We are proud of our pay-what-you-can model which means that anyone in need can access our service, regardless of financial status. We never want money to be barrier to anyone who desperately needs mental health support.

Yet, we are reliant on additional donations from people like you to enable us to continue offering our service in this way. Please click on learn more to see how the scheme works and how you can make a difference.

You can also pledge a Helping Hands gift to Listening Post in your Will. This means gives you can support the future of Listening Post, even if you are unable to give financially right now.

Your legacy can be a helping hand for those who are hurting when you can no longer be there for them. No pledge is too small. Please take a look at our Legacy Giving Brochure for more information on leaving a gift in your Will.

Volunteering

Volunteers form the backbone of Listening Post, and without our many volunteers, the work we do would not be possible.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life and help us in many ways, from fundraising and litter picking to administration and counselling. Our counsellors are all volunteers – both student counsellors working on their diplomas, and qualified counsellors who have chosen to give something back. Our receptionists too are volunteers, who give their time to allow Listening Post to function. Please note that unfortunately we are not able to offer any student counsellor placements at this time.

Volunteer Receptionists

Do you have experience of working in a busy office environment? Do you enjoy answering the telephone and making a real difference? Do you have a few spare hours each week? If you answered yes to any of these questions then we would love to hear from you.

Become a Friend

You might also like to become a Member or Friend of Listening Post.

Listening Post is a company limited by guarantee, and the members of the charity thus act as the guarantors. This entitles you to a vote at the AGM and eligibility to join the board of trustees of the charity. In accordance with Listening Post’s Christian foundation Members are asked to sign a Statement of Faith, and make a monthly or annual contribution to the charity. Friends on the other hand are not asked to sign the Statement of Faith. Although they receive no vote at the AGM, Friends are still invited to the AGM and, like Members, receive a copy of the Annual Report each year and our newsletter.
